Cursed Hunters
Concepts showing what happens to the hunters who loose their way in the forest and fail at taking down the witch. As a spiteful revenge for trying to take her life she dams them to live a cursed never ending life that's always on the edge of death, stuck inside a tree that slowly grows around them.
game play - Upon finding one of these unfortunate hunters the player can find their hunter notes and journal that show what they had learnt so far on their hunt giving the player vital information that can help them succeed in finding and even killing the creatures of the forest. Although alive the fallen hunters don't have the energy or means to be able to communicate but their eyes will follow you.
they can also be a way to determine how dangerous the area you found them in is as they will be more violently twisted and torn apart by the tree they're stuck in in more dangerous areas.
These ideas started unfolding through using the split canvas technique in previous work and having the though process to keep having my work connect and link in with each piece I create. When painting these both up I knew I wanted two variants of the same concepts but as I started painting I again started to think of gameplay and a potential story that led me to have more depth to my work than just two concepts of the same thing.
I've noticed so far how using the Split canvas method through this semester has really helped me to keep the ball rolling from one concept to the next. When finishing one set of paintings I already have several other ideas I can jump to next because of how this method makes me think creatively.
