Infected Designs
One thing I'm looking to build up using this project is some character designs and portraits. I tend to focus mostly on landscapes as that's the area of expertise I aim to excel at however I want to bring my character design and portrait skills up to an acceptable level so that I'm able to create work for my portfolio from the skills I learn in this project around that subject.
I'll be doing concept environments for this game as that's what I've been brought onto the project to mainly do. As it's a project for my MA though I want to make sure I'm learning something valuable in terms of painting skills from it though so that's why I'll be doing more pieces like this to learn from.
I know that the whole zombie idea has been done a lot so through this project I'll do my best as an artist and try give options that haven't been seen. I used these three pieces as a warm up really to get into the project. I'm happy with the method I used but I'm very aware that it's nothing new.
I was a bit gutted about the second one having a similarity to the 'clickers' from The last of us. As when coming up for the design with this one I based it from a David attenborough documentary about air born fungi that infects the minds of ants and end up growing out of their heads. I thought the idea could also be used for the environments and could take on a different look to the generic zombie apocalypse landscapes seen normally.
I'm going to revisit the zombie designs and come up with a fresher idea on what they could look like during the course of this project.
The next piece I do for this project I feel should be an environment as I think Jack.A would benefit from seeing a few variations of ideas based on what the campsite/base could look like before he get's more into modelling it in 3D.
