This was a more simplified mainly focusing on getting the form and gesture right of the girl in the study. Normally If I have a figure in my paintings they're quite far away so I don't have to be as accurate as it's not as noticeable and most of the characters I draw tend to just be regular fully grown men. Painting this study would help me learn and find out if I could paint a younger character and figure out the proportions. It also gave me practice in painting the character without any set guide lines that I often draw in to mark the size of my characters. The aim was basically to keep it loose but still clear like what I normally aim for with environments.
I felt like I managed to capture the overall pose correctly and still managed to have looser brush marks that indicated detail in areas like the folds of clothing. I do see something wrong with the legs however. The stance is a little too close together compared to the study image and I made the bag too short I noticed this because of the amount of socks that can be seen on the painting compaired to the original.
I also wanted to have a go at painting glass bottles as I tried earlier on this semester to paint them on the 'Canyon Miner' painting but fell short. I'm happier with the outcome here. As it was a much simpler scene it felt easier to test it here as there's less going on in terms of what the glass would be reflecting and what's behind the glass. Room for improvement on them but a way better result than my previous attempt.
